🧳 TRAVEL NEWS

🏖 Samos – The Island That Whispers, Not Shouts

Samos, the island known as the birthplace of goddess Hera, doesn’t try to wow you with glossy ads or curated beach clubs—and that’s exactly its charm. It’s the kind of island where you stumble into something extraordinary, without a tour guide in sight.

One minute you’re floating in crystal-clear water at Megalo Seitani, a beach so hidden it requires a hike and some dedication (pack water, not flip flops). The next, you’re deep inside the Tunnel of Eupalinos, a 6th-century BC engineering feat where two teams dug toward each other—and actually met in the middle.

What about a UNESCO World heritage Site? History buffs will love Heraion, once a sanctuary to the goddess Hera and now a windswept ruin with major "how did they build this" energy.

Samos village hopping is a thing. For a slower pace, explore Pythagoreio, the ancient harbor town named after the island’s most famous triangle-loving son, where Roman baths and Hellenistic walls blend with lazy fishing boats and strong coffee.

End your day in Manolates, a mountaintop village where art studios hide behind bougainvillea, and the local taverna owner pours wine like he’s known you since childhood.

Samos hidden gems:

Kosmadei Village – A mountaintop village with 100 residents and views that make you question your life choices (in a good way).

Kakoperato Gorge - A stunning canyon known for its challenging passage and beautiful waters. It's a popular spot for canyoning, offering impressive waterfalls and breathtaking views of the area.

🧑‍🍳 RECIPE OF THE WEEK

Born from the sea and perfected in village kitchens, kakavia is Greece’s original fisherman's stew—and on Samos, it’s a lesson in simplicity done right.

💡 INSPIRATION

Of all men's misfortunes, the bitterest is this: to know so much and to have control over nothing.

😎 GREEK FYI

Greek coffee is made in a small briki pot and served unfiltered, with grounds settling at the bottom. Locals sip it slowly, not stirred, and often read fortunes in the leftover sludge.
